To start off the show, we look at our Tarot Card for the week and we look for moments that relate to this card in our daily lives.

For this week, we chose the King of Cups. The theme of this card is emotional authority.

The court cards often show a progression from page to king. And with the cups its gaining a certain level of control over one’s emotions. The king is at a stage of emotional maturity where he doesn’t need to swim in his emotions to understand and listen to them. He can observe them in a sort of detached way, gather the information they are sharing with him, and learn the lessons he needs to learn.

Kings are also protected from outside influence, and for the king of cups this means he trusts his own intuitive wisdom and experience over that of others. This King is a therapist, who spends all day listening to the emotional trauma, episodes, and events that other people experience, but doesn’t take that on to himself.

I also see this king as the character in the story you are rooting for or the protagonist. The reason we can often connect to characters in stories—in whatever format—is because we can get inside their head and empathize with their experiences. This translates in the real world to a person who is secure in their emotional expression and capable of sharing that with the people around them.

You can hear Erica’s and Maggie’s stories related to the King of Cups by listening to the episode.

5 Activities for Scorpio Season

Scorpio season begins sometime around October 22nd every year and ends around November 21st every year. The reason that the dates change is because of the position of the sun in relation to the Earth.

We are using the tropical astrology system and in this system, the zodiac sign that determines the zodiac season is not dependent on the actual position of the sun in a specific constellation, but rather a mathematically calculated designation of the zodiac wheel.

The zodiac wheel of the tropical system assigns the 0° of Aries to the spring equinox, the 0° of Cancer to the summer solstice, the 0° of Libra to the fall equinox, and the 0° of Capricorn to the winter solstice. Then, these four quadrants are divided into 3 30° sections.

Overall, the Scorpio energy is potent and powerful, characterized by passion, intense emotions, compulsive desires, secrecy, and stinging revenge. Scorpio is industrious, strong willed, and self-assertive, while silent, subtle, tricky, and surprisingly heroic in danger. Scorpio is a good detective, focusing on working out the hidden issues in the subconscious mind.

Now that you know what to expect from the energy of Scorpio season, here are five things you can do to make the most of this energy...

1. Discover your Sexuality and Passion

This energy is very sexy because Scorpio is not afraid of being vulnerable and opening up to what our culture might consider taboo or the darker side. A lot of people have grown up in a household, religion or society that teaches us that sex is dirty and not to be talked about in polite company. But Scorpio invites you to explore your sexy side and discover what really gets you going.

2. Invest Your Money Wisely

Scorpio is often associated with money as well, probably because money is another one of those topics we are also told not to discuss. It is also one of the areas of human life that most people have at least one block or limiting belief. Take some time to understand your finances, where is money flowing in and where is money flowing out. Feel joy for this movement in both directions because currency is meant to flow.

3. Transform Destructive Emotions into Love

This energy is often misunderstood because passion can turn into possessiveness, jealousy, and revenge. Do an audit of the emotions you are holding onto and begin working toward letting go of any lower vibration emotions so that you can raise your average frequency. Remember that all emotions are valuable. We as humans feel certain emotions to give us a clue about what’s going on around us. The important thing is to learn to recognize these feelings and learn tools for coping with them before they become destructive.

4. Breathe and Release Tension

Holding onto secrets can cause your body to tense up. Additionally, digging into your deeply held beliefs to uncover certain darker aspects of yourself can really do a number on your body. Make sure you take some time to breathe deeply and release the tension in your muscles. As you release the tension you may find yourself releasing some limiting beliefs as well.

5. Let Go of Grudges and Resentment

Rebuild friendships and relationships that have been damaged by your grudges and resentment. Face these feelings head on and decide if it’s really worth it to your health and wellbeing to continue holding onto them. Here’s a hint: it’s not. let it go and move on.

Send us a voicemail

We play one listener voicemail on each episode of Talk Witchcraft, with a few exceptions. To send us a voicemail, record a voice memo on your phone and email it to welisten [at] talkwitchcraft [dot] com. Please keep in mind that we only choose voicemails that are two minutes in length or shorter (even if they’re great!).

What we’re looking for in a voicemail

  • Share from your personal experiences (especially experiences that we could never have) and use that to illuminate the zodiac season or theme in new ways.

  • Ask questions of Erica and Maggie, so we have an opportunity to respond meaningfully to your voicemail during the podcast.

  • Use one of these prompts: Is there something happening with you and your life that aligns with the current zodiac season or a Tarot card? How do your experiences show us something new about the magic, something that we haven’t talked about so far?

  • Send a voicemail even if you’re behind on the podcast. If your voicemail is about a previous episode, zodiac season, or tarot card; that doesn’t mean we won’t choose it!

Tips for recording a great voicemail

  • Make sure you’re somewhere quiet.

  • Plan what you’re going to say ahead of time, because two minutes goes quickly.

  • Opt for talking freely based on a bullet pointed list rather than reading word-for word from a script.

  • Let us know if you’d prefer to remain anonymous.
