This page contains cautions for use with certain types of crystals/minerals based on geological data. It is important use common sense when handling, bathing with, and drinking elixirs made with certain minerals in their various forms (raw versus tumbled, fibrous versus crystallized or mass).
This page is educate not to perpetuate fear or anxiety. Knowledge is power. Most cautions on the list are about internal use with a few cautions about external use.
Some safety guidelines you may wish to follow when using crystals:
- Make sure you wash your hands before and after using any crystal/mineral. This keeps your crystals clean and protects you from any potential toxicity.
- Pay particular attention to the list when you are working with raw/natural specimens. Generally, tumbled stones (coated), are not harmful, with a few exceptions, such as Realgar.
- Before making any elixir or charging any water, double check for any possible toxicity that may occur.
- When using several stones in combination, give each stone its own container of water to charge, then mix the water after removing the stones.
- If you have any doubts, It is just as powerful to charge the water by placing the crystal/stone around and outside of the container.
